About Kas D’atay
What is Kas D’atay?
An ethical support platform for creators and professionals. You get your own page where the people you help can thank you with a cup of tea, a small payment at a price you choose. The name is Moroccan Arabic for “a cup of tea”.
Who uses Kas D’atay?
People whose work helps others: educators, speakers, writers, translators, designers, artists, photographers, podcasters, developers, coaches, researchers, cooks, makers, community organisers and many more.
Is it only for Muslims?
No. Kas D’atay is rooted in Islamic values, such as no interest, one clear fee, clean content and honest giving. Many people share those values, whatever their faith, and anyone who shares them is welcome.
How is it different from other platforms?
Payments go straight to your own account, every page is reviewed by a person before it goes live, there’s no adult content anywhere, and our platform fee is 2.5%. See how we compare.
Who are you?
Kas D’atay was started by Abdullah, a creator himself. It’s a Byesar project for Digital Faith Foundation. Read the story on our about page.
Getting paid
How do I get paid?
Every payment goes straight into your own payment account with our payment provider (currently Stripe), and is paid out to your bank on the schedule you choose there.
Do you hold my money?
No. We never hold creators’ money, so we never earn interest on it.
How can my audience pay?
By card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, or with PayPal on pages that take it. They don’t need a Kas D’atay account.
Is there a fee?
A 2.5% platform fee on each payment, and no monthly fees. Founding creators pay 0% for their first six months. Card fees are charged separately by the payment provider. For now there’s no platform fee on PayPal payments; PayPal charges its own fee.
Which countries can creators join from?
Right now, the UK, the US, Canada, most of Europe, the UAE, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand and Mexico. Through PayPal, also Bahrain, Indonesia, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kuwait, Morocco, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Senegal and South Africa. More countries are coming soon. Supporters can pay from almost anywhere.
Which currency is my page in?
Your local currency, such as GBP, USD, EUR, CAD, AUD or AED. Pages paid through PayPal use US dollars, pounds or euros. You set the price of one cup.
Trust and safety
Is Kas D’atay safe and reliable?
Card payments are handled by our payment provider, so we never see card numbers. You sign in with a one-time email code, with no password to steal, and our database is hosted in the EU. Read our security policy.
Do I own my supporters?
Yes. Your creator area shows your supporters’ names, emails, messages and amounts, and you can download the list as a CSV whenever you like.
Is every page checked?
Yes. A person reviews every page before it goes live, against our content policy.
What can’t I share?
Adult content, gambling, interest-based finance, hate or harassment, and anything illegal, among others. The full list is in our content policy.
How do I report a page?
Every creator page has a “Report this page” link at the bottom. Our team looks into every report.
For supporters
Is my support a charitable donation?
No. It’s a personal gift to the creator for their work, and every page says so. We don’t issue charitable tax receipts.
Can I stay anonymous?
Yes. Tick “Keep my name and message off the public page” when you pay. The creator can still see your name and email.
Can I get a refund?
Your payment goes to the creator, so please contact them first. Creators can refund payments from their payment account.
