Import your page
If you already have a page somewhere else, you don’t need to type everything again. When you first sign in, choose Import my page (or go to Import my page).
- 1Pick where your page is now.
- 2GitHub Sponsors: type your username. We read your public profile once, through GitHub’s official API, when you ask. Liberapay, Ko-fi, Buy Me a Coffee, Patreon or Gumroad: copy your own name, short line, About text (on Liberapay, your Summary and Statement) and links from your page and paste them in. We show where to find them, but wording on their site may change.
- 3Check what we found. Untick anything you don’t want, and change any words. We point out anything to look at, such as a mention of your old platform, or words kept for verified registered charities.
- 4Choose Use these and continue. The usual setup steps open, already filled in. Nothing is saved until you press Create my page, and your page is reviewed by a person like every other page.
Why do I have to paste for some platforms? Ko-fi, Buy Me a Coffee, Patreon and Gumroad don’t allow other sites to read pages automatically, or don’t clearly allow it, and Liberapay asks automated tools not to read its profile data, so we never do. You copy your own words, and we tidy them up: we take out web page code, link tracking, the old site’s button wording and lines that are only emoji.
Showing it’s your page: for GitHub Sponsors we give you a short code that starts with kasdatay-. Add it to your GitHub bio or a new public gist, then press Check. You can remove it again straight afterwards. You can also carry on without it: the person who reviews your page will see that it was brought over without a check, and may ask you about it. A pasted page has no check: the reviewer sees that you pasted your details.
- Your photo is fetched only when you create your page, and only if you kept it ticked. If you upload a photo during setup, yours is used instead.
- A Liberapay goal is a weekly amount, so if you paste it we show it as about a month’s worth and leave it unticked: on Kas D’atay a goal fills up as support comes in, in your page’s currency, so check the amount before you use it.
- GitHub sponsor tiers aren’t brought over. You can set up memberships here once your page is live.
- If GitHub is busy (it only answers a limited number of lookups an hour), we say so: open Or paste your details instead under the username box and paste your own words.
What stays where it is: your supporters and their details, monthly supporters and members, your history and your payouts. We never import anyone’s name, email or messages, and we can’t move payment details between platforms. We only keep a small note that your page was brought over, from where, and whether you showed it was yours, so the reviewer can see it.
Once your page is set up, your moving kit has an email and a WhatsApp message you can send your own supporters, an “I’ve moved” note for your old page, a note for monthly supporters (join here, then cancel there), and your button code once payments are connected. We don’t send anything to your supporters for you.
An AI assistant with a setup key can do the same for you: it asks us for the preview, shows it to you, and saves what you confirm. It must not read Liberapay, Ko-fi, Buy Me a Coffee, Patreon or Gumroad pages itself: it asks you to paste your own words. See Let an AI assistant set up your page.
